globalrugbyleague - Sun, 23 Sep 2007 11:00:00 GMTFormer St George-Illawarra icon Trent Barrett labeled Wigan’s 31-30 come from behind victory over Bradford on Friday as the best win of his career.
Barrett – who unlike his former NRL teammates made a finals series this season albeit in the English Super League – played a crucial hand in the elimination playoff.
A dreamy 30-6 start from Bradford had the experts writing ‘game over’ on the wall before winger Mark Calderwood ran in 3 tries to level the scores.
Pat Richards then finished off the Bulls season with a drop goal.
Barrett – who set up Calderwood’s second try of the night with a long pass – told Sky Sports "That's the best win I've ever had, I think.”
“To come from behind like we did in a big game at Bradford, it was a great effort.
"They showed a lot of effort tonight and in the last five weeks, I'm proud of them.”
Wigan – who finished in 6th spot at the end of round 27 - will meet Hull FC next weekend after Peter Sharp's side beat Huddersfield 22-16 at KC Stadium on Saturday.
Wigan 31 (M Calderwood 3, Leulai, Hansen tries; P Richards 5 goals; P Richards 1 field goal) d Bradford 30 (Solomona 3, Harris, Tupou tries; Harris 5 goals) at Grattan Stadium. Crowd: 9,055Hull FC 22 (Raynor 2, Horne, Lee tries; Tickle 3 goals) d Huddersfield 16 (Reilly, Hudson, Brown tries; Thorman (2) goals) at KC Stadium. - Read More, Here
