JIM BEAM CUP
GRAND FINAL

SYDNEY BULLS V THE ENTRANCE
Aussie Stadium
Saturday September 22nd, 5:25pm
Referee: Chris James
GRL Tip: Sydney Bulls by 20

There was no mountain high enough to stop the Entrance Tigers from climbing up all the way into this year’s Jim Beam Cup Grand Final.

Losing their last three games of the regular season, the Tigers were then fined $10,000 by the NSWRL for fielding an unregistered player against Cabramatta in round 20.

To make matters worse Jamy Forbes’ team then suffered the biggest loss of this year’s finals series when the Sydney Bulls horned them 50-10 in week 1.

Adding credence to the theory that whatever doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, the central coast based squad hit back with two wins over Wentworthville and later minor premiers Cabramatta.

Their reward for restoring some lost form over the past two weeks? To play the Sydney Bulls in the Grand Final.

Entrance have not won a Jim Beam Cup premiership since 2003 and only defeated Cabramatta by two-points last weekend.

On seasonal form the Two Blues were great favourites to make this year’s decider but like the Belrose Eagles just couldn’t get the job done when it was most needed.

Only two weeks ago the Bulls bounced back from a 24-0 deficit to beat the Two Blues 34-24. It will be interesting to see if a week off hurts their momentum or gives them an energy reboost.

The Entrance did beat the Bulls by 2-points back in round 5 and will need to dominate the Bulls field position on the final play the ball if they want to make this a low-scoring affair.

Sydney Bulls are always competitive in finals football, are never down until the final count and play some of their best footy in the second-half.

It will take a miracle for the Entrance to defuse the Bulls winning back to back titles in 2007.
