The Federal Government has left both Rugby codes pretty cheesed off after withdrawing financial funding promised to them by the former Howard Government.

Head officials from both sides of the Rugby border expressed uproar after the Rudd government dudded $35 million in funding from the two sports.

Rugby League lost $10 million which had been allocated for the game's centenary celebrations.

That funding would have allowed for Hall of Fame projects in both Sydney and Brisbane as well as associated projects including education resources and volunteer recognition.

"It is particularly disappointing given that the grant was announced by the then Prime Minister on Grand Final day before the election was called," NRL Chief Executive, Mr David Gallop, said today.

"It wasn't an election promise but a commitment by the government of the day."

Rugby Union has been stripped of $25 million which would have gone to an academy at Ballymore in Brisbane.

That decision will be viewed as more irritating then a bout of priapism considering the ARU spent $500,000 on the academy project after John Howard announced the capital contribution on June 30, 2007. - Read More, Here
