The player who recieved the fastest dismissal from the field in the history of Test rugby league has been appointed the captaincy of Warrington for season 2008.

Great Britain enforcer Adrian Morley - who was made famous for being sent off for a high tackle on Robbie Kearns during the opening game of the 2003 Ashes series - replaces Lee Briers who opted to stand down.

According to coach Paul Cullen, Morley was the natural successor to the job.

" It was an obvious choice. His seniority and his international record was a major factor in my decision process," Cullen told the media.

" He [Morley] has all the right attributes: the way he lives his life, his attitude at training and his attitude on the field is simply first class."

Briers, 29, opted to take a break from skippering the side and will now focus on getting the best out of his playing career during the ensuing twighlight years.
Warrington coach Paul Cullen conceded : "I felt going forward that we needed to take the pressure off Briers, both on and off the field.

"The bottom line is I want him to turn up for work with a smile on his face to play football and have the responsibility for that and that only.

It's not the first time Morley has lead a squad. He captained Great Britain against the Northern Union team in the centenary international against the All-Golds last October. - Read More, Here
