The Gold Goast Titans broke their winless record against the Bulldogs on Friday night via a 24-20 victory at Skilled Park.
And they did it with the help of the form halfback in the NRL , Scott Prince, who missed out on State of Origin selection this week and proved why that oversight was a terrific blunder.
Prince set up the first two opening tries to winger Smith Samau and prop Brad Meyers before Luke O’Dwyer crossed for one himself to give the home side a 16-nil lead after 23 minutes.
The Bulldogs scored twice before halftime to claw their way back into the match at 16-10 but Prince again responded with a try of his own.
Canterbury – coming off a terrible 26-point loss - made sure they remained competitive when Corey Hughes and Reni Maitua crossed over to keep the Titans on their toes right up until full-time.
““Last year we would have lost that game,’’ said Titans coach John Cartwright.
“It was probably our worst performance of the year footy wise.
